We can prioritize, and organize, but we cannot benefit in we do not act.
1. Inspire Yourself
Journal about your goals, your struggles and your aspirations to move forward in well being. What are the things you would like to do? Write them down. Print out pictures or make an inspirational wallpaper on your phone.
2. Schedule It In
Get serious about making the time for your well being. Get out your calendar and make an appointment with yourself. Any amount of time can make a difference. Twenty minutes or more is ideal. Commit to keeping the appointment.
3. Lay Out What You Need
Make things visible so you are reminded and encouraged to take action. Having things ready and laid out takes one more step out of the thought process of going for that walk or stretching those muscles.
4. Set Your Timer
Setting our timer can make the task and commitment feel less cumbersome. Say to yourself, I have 15 minutes to sit out on the back stoop and soak in some sunshine, or I have 10 minutes to sit down and write in my journal, or I have 20 minutes to go on a walk. Set your timer and do it.
5. Organize Your Items
Create a space to put the items that you use often. Designate a space you can easily take out and put things away. Hang the dog leash by the door, place your tennis shoes in a relevant spot, put all your workout clothes together, store your yoga mat near where you most often use it.
